E-filing is no longer optional. The HMRC iXBRL mandate is now in force for all corporation tax returns for accounting periods ending after 31 March 2010. LLPs and small charities are excluded but any other company that submits a CT600 must comply by submitting their corporation tax payments electronically using Inline Extensible Business Reporting Language (iXBRL). Supporting documentation must also be filed online, including the financial statements which have to be converted to ‘inline Extensible Business Reporting Language’ (iXBRL). This involves tagging the numbers and words within the statements. It requires a detailed knowledge of the required taxonomy whether that be UK GAAP or IFRS plus any sector specific sub-taxonomies. At BDO we have a specialist iXBRL team that combines the specialist financial reporting technical skills with the detailed knowledge of the required iXBRL taxonomies. Choose from our Direct Access iXBRL conversion service, which enables you to upload your Microsoft Word 2007 based financial statements to a secure portal to complete the iXBRL tagging yourself, or our Fully Managed iXBRL conversion service where our specialist team will take your accounts in whatever format and tag them ready for HMRC submission, relieving you of the pressures and the risks. Answer our simple questionnaire to find the right iXBRL solution for you or find out more about our specialist ixbrl tagging services. You can also contact either your usual BDO adviser, Tony Spillett who leads our specialist iXBRL team.
