Stabilising - HMRC Liaison

Introduction

Time To Pay (TTP) arrangements allow HMRC to collect tax in a cost effective way for businesses who are experiencing difficulties in paying the tax due in full and on time.  Our specialists with combined tax and restructuring expertise, assist organisations looking to defer both conventional tax and duty payments and more complex requests such as Air Passenger Duty, SDRT and HMRC tax settlements through this TTP arrangement.

Our Approach

Our teams are highly experienced in dealing with HMRC and situations of financial stress so we understand the importance of swift and effective action. We support clients who are about to default to agree a deal and make recommendations to support the business, sticking to the terms. Even if a default has already occurred, we work closely with key stakeholders to find a mutual resolution.

When considering an approach to HMRC our specialist team will work along side the client to:

  • Set out what would be required for an approach to HMRC
  • Draft a Time To Pay application, review cash flow forecasts and other supporting documentation
  • Act as a liaison with HMRC to help guide the application through the process by obtaining access to the right person at the right time within HMRC which is critical.

How We Help The Client

Our operations team include specialists who have worked for HMRC, tax accountants and restructuring practitioners, so clients receive the best opportunity for a positive outcome.  Since the scheme started four years ago we have managed almost 200 cases across all sizes and sectors. No amount is too big or small, our smallest successful deferral was for just £25,000 of PAYE, the largest was for more than £14 million of PAYE and VAT.  We have an excellent track record of achieving successful outcomes.
