From companies with a dual listing on both the Full List of the London Stock Exchange and NASDAQ exploring for and extracting diamonds in sub-saharan Africa to companies extracting aggregates from the Sechelt Peninsula in British Columbia, Canada. The market capitalisations of our listed clients as at November 2007 range from £2.8m to £1.3bn which demonstrates the breadth and depth of our knowledge in the sector.

Case study – LSE listed Kazakhstan based gold mining group

Our client is the leading specialist gold mining group in Kazakhstan and is rapidly developing to become the largest regional gold producer in Eastern Europe and the CIS countries. The Group’s three main assets are based in Northern Kazakhstan and have been operating since the 1920’s.

Our specialist business assurance team manage the group audit from London working closely with BDO Kazakhstan Audit LLP. BDO Kazakhstan Audit LLP assist with the local detailed audit work and manage the local statutory filings for the Group.

Our partner led approach means the Audit partner, assisted by the senior members of the audit team from the UK team, spend several weeks in Kazakhstan with the client during each key reporting period. We believe that this sort of investment in our clients is a key part of our relationship as advisers to the business. Not only does it ensure that the audit process is efficiently managed and controlled with issues being resolved on a timely basis, it also provides an opportunity for wider commercial strategic issues to be discussed with key members of Management and the Board responsible for implementing them.
