Almost daily the media contains reports or some reference to the power and importance of a country’s natural resources. On any one day the media may focus on domestic issues such as the price of petrol in the UK, international supply issues or the effect of commodity prices on the financial markets. As a result the natural resources sector is dynamic, internationally focussed and complex.
