Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP has appointed Arbinder Chatwal to head up its national India Advisory Services team.
Audit Director Arbinder, who joins from Big Four firm Ernst & Young, will be based across BDO’s Southampton and London offices. He will lead a team that provides strategic advisory services to clients across the firm’s national and regional networks, driving business opportunities and improving trading links between the UK and India. He will work closely with BDO’s International Liaison Partner, Kim Hayward, who is also based at the firm’s Southampton office in Ocean Village.
Having previously been involved in several UK Trade Missions to India, Arbinder will help to further develop the firm’s relationships with key stakeholders. He has extensive experience in advising cross border transactions in India, working with listed multinationals, family-owned and private equity backed businesses.
In addition, Arbinder is a Director at Solent Indian Business Network (SIBN), an independent not-for-profit company that strengthens links between the Indian and Solent city region business communities.
Commenting on his appointment, Arbinder said: “As the eurozone continues to experience challenging trading conditions, UK businesses are increasingly looking to emerging markets for growth. I am looking forward to working with international clients that are exploring India strategically, as well as Indian companies doing business in the UK and Europe.
“I am delighted to be joining BDO and look forward to leading the India advisory offering, connecting business knowledge, people and cultures across borders, and working closely with clients to help maximise business opportunities overseas.”
Kim Hayward, International Liaison Partner at BDO, said: “Arbinder is a highly experienced and knowledgeable professional. We continue to attract an excellent calibre of people to the firm; people who are focused on delivering exceptional client service and making a real difference to our clients’ businesses. We are delighted to have him on board.”
