Iberia - a taxpayer's paradise?

The March 2011 Budget announcement that a statutory residence test would be introduced in the UK from 6 April 2012 was very welcome. Following the release of the consultation paper in June 2011, the proposed new residence test will potentially open up opportunities for individuals to break UK residence and settle abroad with much more clarity than the current position.

Whether individuals are seeking to move abroad for retirement, employment opportunities or for a lifestyle change, the Iberian peninsula not only offers a warm climate and an attractive way of life but also very favourable tax regimes for new residents.
