Current role

Peter heads up BDO's M&A advisory business in the UK, which in 2011, according to Experian Corpfin, was the UK's most active with 81 completed transactions during the year.

Although Peter continues to work across a variety of sectors, his main focus is on the leisure space, with a secondary interest in energy and environmental deals. He has acted for entrepreneurs, private equity and corporates both in sale and buy-side roles. Peter also runs BDO's Business Trends report, a monthly poll of polls of business confidence, and appears regularly on TV and radio talking about the UK economy. 

Experience

Peter joined BDO's corporate finance department in 1989 and became a partner in 1994.  He trained as a Chartered Accountant having been educated at Brentwood School, Essex and Cambridge University.

Recent transactions

• Leading dnata's acquisition of Travel Republic (£500m turnover UK online travel agency). dnata is the travel services affiliate of Emirates of the UAE
• £550m acquisition of Associated Dental Practices and Integrated Dental Holdings led by Carlyle group
• Raised a credit facility of £75m for New Earth Solutions to develop semi-merchant waste facilities processing waste for Dorset and Kent County Councils
• Leaders - £48m sale to Bowmark Capital

Other leisure deals include: Restaurants: £140m sale of Strada to Tragus, £27m sale of Las Iguanas to Bowmark, £25m sale of Tootsies to Clapham House, £110m sale of Paramount Restaurants to Silverfleet. Travel: £40m sale of Travel House and £30m sale of Sunsail to TUI, £22m sale of MedHotels to Barclays Ventures.
