Biography

Daniel Dover is a senior general practice partner at BDO LLP, the accountancy and business advisory firm. He qualified in 1979 and became a partner in 1984. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants’ Audit, Corporate Finance and Tax Faculties. He is also a TEP – Tax Estates Practitioner. He has wide experience of advising owner-managed businesses and smaller public companies.

Daniel founded the Tax Investigations Group and remains its most senior member. His expertise covers all United Kingdom HMRC Special Investigations Office matters, including those involving questions of domicile and residence of both corporate and private entities.

Daniel is the co-author of An Inspector Returns, an A-Z guide to surviving a tax investigation, War or Peace, Skirmishes with the Revenue and The Taxman Always Rings Twice: Surviving a Tax Investigation.

He inspired and created Daddy Fool, Charitable Trysts and Russian Roulette, a trio of dramatisations depicting people falling foul to Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.  You can view these here.

Daniel also advises a wide range of Charities on the tax pitfalls they face. He attends the Trustee Board Meetings of many of them. He regularly lectures on taxation issues.
