Client experience

  • Assisted a major shareholder with the valuation of their shares in a national leisure business. His valuation method was preferred to that used by the other parties and a favourable settlement for his client resulted.
  • Assisted the northern forensic accounting team of BDO LLP in the defence of a multi-million pound case involving a patent infringement. The team successfully defended the claim saving the defendants around £8m.
  • Acted as an advisor to a building supplies company during the mediation of a professional negligence claim against the company's former auditor.  The outcome was successful for the client who left the mediation with an agreement for damages in excess of £1m plus legal costs.
  • Investigated the quantum of over-charging by a supplier to a FTSE 100 company by comparison of contractually agreed and actual costs. This led to the successful negotiation of a substantial repayment of costs, successful exit from the long-term contract with minimal legal costs and led to several further engagements for the BDO Forensic team with the FTSE 100 company.
  • Assisted the investigation into the diversion of trade from a multi-national commodity manufacturer to a company set up by a former director.  This led to a substantial settlement for the multi-national business in the UK.
  • Undertaken a number of business valuations in matrimonial matters.
  • Adam has given expert evidence in both the criminal and civil Courts in the UK.
