The importance of staff to the proper functioning of a business has been highlighted by a workforce management group.
Right Management Workplace Wellness recently spoke about the crucial role employees play, stating they are a company's "main asset".
Kevin Friery, clinical director at the group, suggested that the current economic climate has precipitated changes to the dynamic between employer and employee.
"In addition, we have shifted socially into an era where people have different expectations of life and are bringing new attitudes to employment," he added.
His comments follow a study by AAT, which found that the mentality of having jobs for life is waning, with one in three surveyed employees stating that they planned to commit themselves to their current role in the long term.
Mr Friery went on to urge employer to understand the needs and motivations of their staff in order to create a "psychological contract" that encourages support.
