New data from the Engineering Employers Federation (EEF) and BDO reveals that manufacturers up and down the UK remain resilient in the face of ongoing economic difficulties.
A recent study from the Confederation of British Industry found that confidence among the nation's manufacturers is on the rise, and the EEF/BDO research indicates that this is well-founded.
Output and orders were found to remain positive - despite the fact that they were softer than expectations in the last quarter.
Furthermore, some ground was also gained in terms of both national and international orders and recruitment intentions continued the positive trend that has been developing over the past two years.
"Manufacturers are holding steady and displaying the resilience and agility they have displayed in response to a number of unforeseen events in recent years" commented chief economist of the EEF Lee Hopley, adding that successful strategies to access growth are being developed despite ongoing economic difficulties.
