A lack of understanding is putting some businesses off cloud computing, according to the director at Eclipse Internet.
Clodagh Murphy said the initial outlay for the technology is quite small, so this is not what is holding firms back.
"You don't need to spend a lot of money upfront," she explained. "What puts businesses off is that they don't fully understand it."
Indeed, many company owners simple do not want to take the "risk" of investing in a new and somewhat unknown technology, she remarked.
Ms Murphy advised firms thinking of adopting cloud computing to find a supplier they can trust and who can give them good advice.
"From there you are in a much better position to embrace the technology," she stated.
According to a recent study by the Centre for Economics and Business Research, some ?177.3 billion (£148.7 billion) will be generated each year by 2015 if companies in Europe's five biggest economies continue to adopt cloud computing.
