Despite increasing competition from emerging economies, India remains the top destination for offshore services, according to a new report.
IT analyst Gartner found that India comes out on top when assessed across ten criteria, including language, government support and cultural compatibility.
"India is already the most successful country in amongst the offshore locations," the report pointed out.
"With the rising rupee, its cost competitiveness is being challenged, but this is compensated by its strength in other areas."
Gartner pointed out that growing labour costs and attrition in India is opening up opportunities for rival markets.
It named China, Indonesia and Malaysia as three nations that are becoming increasingly attractive for offshore services.
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were both new entries in the group's analysis this year.
Sri Lanka's offshore rating was last assessed in 2007-08, while this year was the first time Bangladesh had been included in the ratings.
