The government has announced the launch of the Green Deal, specifically adding that the initiative will be an early candidate for the UK Infrastructure Guarantees Scheme.
In order to promote the scheme, the UK Trade & Investment Infrastructure Summit was held at Lancaster House yesterday (August 8th).
Business leaders from all over the world were brought together in order to debate emerging trends and identify opportunities across sectors such as construction, airports, rail and water.
Chief secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander said that the coalition's early action to get a grip on public finances has facilitated the investment of up to £40 billion in infrastructure investment.
He added that 30 expressions of interest in the UK Infrastructure Guarantee Scheme have already been received, with more requests pending each day.
"We are looking at whether and how a guarantee could help ensure that the finances are in place to get the programme off to a very strong start," Mr Alexander commented.
