Carbon emissions taxes imposed on the UK by the European Union (EU) threaten to hinder the national economic recover at a time when it needs as much support as possible.
This is according to the Institute of Directors (IoD), which pointed to China's stance on the issue.
Having rejected the proposals, the country's government pointed out the taxes still have not been endorsed by the United Nations.
As a result, China is said to have condemned the proposals as building a barrier to trade in the name of environmental protection.
"Today's announcement is a warning to the EU and UK that poorly-conceived taxes will have unforeseen consequences. Business depends on good connections to high growth markets and a healthy flow of passengers," commented director-general of the IoD Simon Walker.
The UK government may also need to address their aviation policy, as the British Chambers of Commerce recently claimed poor air connections are a hindrance to foreign investment.
