More than 17 million Britons are worrying about their finances on a daily basis, new research has revealed.
The study by moneysupermarket.com found that one in eight people feels completely out of control about their money.
In addition, one in seven gets bored or frustrated within ten minutes of attempting to sort out their personal finances.
Kevin Mountford, head of banking at the price comparison website, said that people may not be attempting to curb their spending as they are trying to 'keep up with the Joneses'.
"This coupled with inertia and lack of understanding is why there is glaring gap between people being stressed and scared about their finances, but not actually doing anything about it," he added.
"If consumers take time to sit down, get the information they need to sort out their finances, they will find that a complete change in lifestyle is not necessarily required."
